We just recently moved into a house and the boiler and hot water tank which came with it are over 12 years old and no longer work properly. The water never fully heats up and we're sick of lukewarm showers! How much would it cost to replace the boiler and hot water tank. I'm unsure of what kind of heating system we have currently but I think it's an immersion heater, but I really haven't a clue! I'm sorry if this isn't enough detail but its all the relevant information that I have!

The main purpose of a water seal in a water closet is to prevent escape of sewer gases into the building I understand.
Does the water seal in the water closet serve any other useful functions?

I am certain the hot water makes a complete loop and there's no air in the system (pipes). I know because I feel the very hot water leaving the boiler and feel the somewhat cooler water returning into the boiler. Yet, improbable as it sounds: at two separate, ajacent and perpindicular heat registers (one 10', one 6'), in two seperate rooms and on the same heating loop, I have this problem. I suspect some type of blockage but the loop is completed. Before I call in a Pro, I'd like to have an ideal of what's going on. I the meantime I've raised the thermostat. Lastly, this is a 4 year old house and I believe this condition has existed since it was built.

I can't figure this out. I'm installing a new overhead range hood above my stove. I took down the old one and put up the new one. One black wire, one white wire, and one ground. The two blacks go together, the two whites together and the groung goes under the green groung screw.
I'm feeling good about my self, I go down to flip the fuse back on and it trips. I keep trying and everytime I try to turn the fuse back on it keeps tripping. Never had a problem with the old hood so I'm shaking my head.

The only difference between the two hoods is that the new one is 1.7 amps and the old one was 2.1amps. In the basement the, the fuse that they are on is 15 amps.

Can somebody help me out.....:(

The broiler works, and the burners on the stove work, but the oven won't do anything when I turn it on. There is this part on the bottom of the oven that glows red when I turn it on, but it doesn't ignite. Is this something that can be fixed inexpensively or will it cost me the same to just buy a new oven? Any help would be appreciated greatly!!!

Will it eventually fall or just crumble? The holes are odd shaped and are about two inches in diameter. Above it is a leak in the drop ceiling and four of the tiles are missing. The air is coming in but it doesn't rain much where I live. Can this be knocked down completely or does it have to be replastered? What is the cost?

1. Is slab pour back considered "structural work" ?

2. The store I am renting started as a shell. The floor was dirt, with a small amount of concrete along the backwall. My general contractor had this strip of concrete cut out, and then built my concrete floor on top of the dirt. What type of floor is this, technically? Is it a Slab on Grade foundation? The main thing I want to find out is if the floor I paid to put in is considered the "foundation". Like I said, when I first gained access to my space, it only had a dirt floor.

Your help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a two family apartment. The second floor is heated by a ventless gas heater. The people on the first floor, who use a steam furnace believe their high heat bill is because the heat is rising through the floors. The second floor is wall to wall carpeted and the first floor has drop ceilings. Is this really making a big difference to the first floor heating bills.

The seams of the laminate are beginning to raise slightly and I want to know if polyurathane can be applied to the entire laminate floor without causing future damage or wear problems. Could this cause a moisture problem under the laminate? Thanks for any GOOD advice from anyone with laminate floor experience.
