we are looking to buy a cute home, but the foundation is cracked and one wall is sinking...we may think it is worth it depending on repair costs. I just need and average cost nubmer just to have an idea of what we would be getting into.

My dryer stop heating a couple days ago. I did all the checks on it with the meter and found out it was the fuse. I changed the fuse but it blew again. I rewired it so it will bypass the fuse on my kenmore 90 plus series dryer and it works fine. What does the fuse actually do? Is it ok to run my dryer without the fuse in play?
Thanks in advance

I'm primering a basement with one less than half window that can open. Realisticly, I've been told it will take any where from 48 to 72 hours for it to dry. Is this true? We don't live there now, just fixing it up, but we are moving in Friday, I was hoping to paint before then, but what's your opinion? It's a 10 by 14 room that I'm worried about. They just finished the dry wall today and I'm primering tomorrow

My house was originally ment to be only a summerhouse, and heat was installed as a after thought. It was a never insulated so "warm house/cold outside" causes severe condinsation/moisture problems. Any ideas to help? Insulating the house is not a option..Thank You

Help! I installed a Harbor Breeze fan, and when I flip the switch it only operates in high. I control the fan with a remote control. the remote DOES control the lights on the fan. I have a light on the top of fan and on the bottom, and they both turn on and off using the remote. However, the HI, MED , LOW, and REV buttons do nothing, the fan just stays in high mode. I do not believe the fan has a cord to pull to control speeds. Its hard to tell though because the fan is about 20 feet in the air and requires a scaffolding to get to. I am hoping I do not have to get back up to the fan to fix this problem?

ugh, sorry this is so disgusting. I was shaving my legs and then I used the showerhead, which sprayed the water (and my little hairs) all over the wall. I didn't think the hairs would stick to the paint on the wall, and now there are little hairs stuck in the paint. Sorry, I know I'm disgusting, my question is, is there any way to get them off? I am renting and I don't want to lose my security deposit. Additionally, I hate that I did that to the wall. This is embarrassing and I'd like to just deal with it without having to explain to my landlord what happened.

I am trying to decide what is the best kind of caulk to use on the outside of recently replaced vinyl windows on a 50+ year old house. The house is brick and there is not wood on the outside of the windows so I don't believe there should be any painting required.

My refrigerator started to freeze all my food. We lowered the temperature last night to the lowest setting and this morning our milk was rock solid...everything was. Our water dispenser wasn't working either and no ice has been made. We removed the filter and it's frozen as well. Any suggestions? Thank you so much.

My basement flooded again (due to problem with sump pump...but now that is fixed). The carpet is all wet once again. It took days to dry out last time with help from my Kirby. Should I get rid of the carpet? Should a basement even have carpet? Is there probably mildew under the carpet? If so, what kind of tile should I lay after I remove the carpet? Help! My basement is drowning (but it is going down as we speak...due to the sump pump).

The mold is at the base in the bedrooms and bathroom. We have had no furnace this winter and have heated with a wood stove only. There has been quite a bit of moisture that has been present throughout the course of the winter also

We have redone the wiring and roof recently, but were wondering, after watching shows like "House Inspector", whether we should have our home inspected for potential other concerns as it is over 100 years old? We had a general inspection done 4 years ago before moving in, but wonder, if we try to sell in a year's time, would it be worth having an inspection done today to prepare for the future sale? Or, would whatever the inspector said 4 years ago still hold true in most cases? Our inspector missed the fact that our roof had leaked and was about to fall to pieces due to snow on the roof (he couldn't see the roof so skipped that part!) and also that some plumbing needed updating. It made me nervous that he may have missed other things. Comments?
