I am trying to decide what is the best kind of caulk to use on the outside of recently replaced vinyl windows on a 50+ year old house. The house is brick and there is not wood on the outside of the windows so I don't believe there should be any painting required.

Go to your local hardware store and ask one of the people in that department.

Clear Silicone Caulk.

To do a good job, you have to scrape out all old caulking, refill with caulking fit for outdoors or exterior only.
Repaint over caulking.

The caulking package (tube) will say "Exterior, Windows, Door Frames, and Trim.

There's a product called "sidewinder" that the guys who install windows for a living swear by. Give that a try.

Use a good grade of silicone-based sealant. You can get that in many colors and it will last for a long time.
