I have used the victor plug ins before and had a mouse run right in front of it so I am sceptical about using them but does anyone know what sonic wave devices are safe to use with pets and actually work?

Play Jessica Simpson albums at high volume.

Though that may not be safe for anyone in the house.

All of the sonic devices are safe for pets, but all of them don't work for all rodents.
You can use the sonic device and add a no-kill mouse trap.
You can find one of those at Home Depot. It is safe for pets because it doesn't use any poison nor snaps shut. It simply traps the mouse inside without killing it.
The downside is that you have to checks the traps periodically and remove the mouse - may not be pleasant for you - I myself don't mind.
On the other hand, I "employ" 3 cats in my house who take care of mice very nicely :)

Sonic devices haven't worked that I know of. but what does (since a cat is out of the question) is using skunk feces or ferret feces which I know sounds really bad but good garden centers actually sell it! This are natural predators to rats and mice. but you can also find a friend who does have a cat and ask for the dirty litter box. These "items" can be placed into coffee cans with holes in the lid, to be placed around your garage. At the edge of the woods, away from children, you can sprinkle these onto the ground.

Sonic devices are a total rip. Take it and throw it at the mouse. You can buy an awful lot of mouse traps for the price of one sonic. Personally, I get a great deal of satisfaction hearing that snap. You need something that works right now. They multiply pretty fast.

Cat works best. Or Traps. Steel wool around pipes.

I have never had any success with the pest sonic devices, don't work for bugs or mice as far as I can tell, just another gimick. Considering all of the various electronic devices in our homes now, I can't see how another device would be a deterrent.
