I took down a light ceiling fixture. There are 2 sets of 2 wires. All the wires are black. It's an old house so maybe age has blackened some of the wires, but why would all the wires be black? I know hardly nothing about electrical standards but I thought that for ease of repair and for safety ,certain colors had certain uses. I'm finding out that's not the case. I know I can find out if the wires are hot and so on, but I don't understand why all four wires connecting my ceiling fixture would be black. Thanks

I just moved into a 2-story home that has the heater upstairs (for all to hear). Is this normal and maybe I never noticed because the other heaters were always in the garage? It really sounds like something is popping inside it, alot like popcorn. It only does this when we're running hot water, or shortly after.

I am planning on getting an extra electrical socket installed in my room, because there currently is only one. How much would this usually cost for an electrician to install it? What is the process of doing so? Thanks!

Ice storm filled gutters with ice. It's not melting cause the sun only hits the back of the house. If it gets above freezing during the day should i go ahead and spray it down so the ice will melt and hope it dries before nightfall or is this a bad idea?

I have to replace a ceiling fixture. There is a stud in the middle for mounting. The new fixture isn't made for that type of setup. Can I buy something to screw onto the stud so I can screw in the new fixture?

I have to unclog my insink garbage disposal. It runs but the water does not drain. I will use a plunger, if it does not work I will take apart the trap and clean it out.

I do not want to ruin my clothes while I am unclogging the disposal. What should I wear? Do guys wear jeans to unclog a in sink garbage disposal? What kind and color of jeans should I wear to fix my garbage disposal? Thank you for your help.

The water level in My so called extra large capacity tub will barely cover ONE set of queen size sheets on a large load setting. This is not under warranty. I have been using a cut off hose on the sink next to the waser to fill the tub. EVERY time I do laundry. There are NO LEAKS or anything else wrong. just the water level sucks.
