I work for an appliance part distributor. I just looked up your model on the Sears website and it is absolutely a direct drive. Never get rid of it. All these fancy new machines are junk. You have the best washing machine ever built.

By the way, put a 110 in front of the model number. It's on the model plate, it just doen't look like it is part of the number.

Belt. A good clue. Right when spin cycle begins there's always a squeek as the belt slips.

Most probably belt. Check behind the bottom panel and you can see it.
