My front door when opening lets out a "blood curling" sqeek. It is being opened against a wood floor. I've tried silicone on the floor and oil also just makes the floor VERY slippery. Any sugesstions would be appreciated,as that it wakes up the entire household. Please offer advise as to how to stop this. Thanks

Try taping some sandpaper to the floor, then open and close the door over it. The sandpaper will sand off enough of the door, to stop the squeaking, but not enough to ruin the door.

Try to mark the area that is dragging the floor. Then lay some sand paper between the floor and the door and open and close a few time to sand the bottom of the door. Try this and see if it helps.

If the problem is the bottom of the door rubbing against the floor, the solution is to take the door off its hinges and file or plane the bottom of the door. If the problem is squeaking hinges, a shot of three-in-one or a similar type oil, on the hinges, will clear it up.

The best way to solve this problem is to remove the door and plane ( shave the door down on the bottom edge ) the bottom edge so that it no longer makes contact with the floor.

If your door can come off its hinges, cut a quarter or one eighth of an inch off the bottom and replace door on its hinges
Another way more complicated.is to reomove the hinges and raise of or lower it to avoid squeaking.
