I checked the washer and the little screen in the faucet thing on the end of the spout where the water comes out, but the hot and cold handles that you turn to get the water out...if you turn them tightly the water slows down or speeds up slightly..the drip slows or speeds up when you twist them, is this something we can fix or am i looking at a plumber here??

Had a bit of a DIY disaster today. Decided to Secure a floor board and the nail went through the water pipe leading to water running in to the kitchen downstairs.

We called out our heating provider-The engineer remedied the leak by replacing the the part with copper piping and securing this with what i would a compression fitting/valve thingy (not very technical im afraid!).

After the engineer left we went to replace our floor boards but the fitting is quite large and now our floorboard wont lie flat.

We have also been told by a friend that the heating/hot water pipe has to be so many mm from the floorboard or this could cause major problems-obviously putting pressure on the pipe for it to crack in the future.

Does anyone know if this correct and can anyone offer any technical advice/solution?

I have a table saw by Ryobi which I bought in Germany. It's not under warranty anymore. Anyway I noticed on a project the other day that my cuts werent coming out square and when I carefully checked my saw I noticed that the guide itself isnt square. When I set it to the length I want to measure it's ok, but then when I tighten it down it goes off true. Any ideas or recommendations?

This past summer, we had contractors build an add-on room to our home. They turned out to be terrible--they never showed up, the roof had gaps, some of the windows aren't set level to the ground, and the list goes on. Now around two of the windows we have cracks in the wall extending diagonally out from diagonally opposite corners of the windows. We don't have gutters over those walls, and rain tends to run off over one concentrated spot on each wall. My husband thinks we can at least slow down the cracking and maybe correct it completely by installing gutters. I'm not convinced, because the workmanship was so poor in the first place. Any thoughts on if gutters will make a noticeable difference? If not gutters, then what?

What is the easiest most cost efficient way for someone with no home improvement experience to do it? Since the spigots are wasting away, we will have to cut pipe to replace them. Could someone give me some simple steps? I have searched the net and found tidbits here and there, but nothing with good enough detail, such as a list of items I would need.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

My basement is waterproofed from the inside and has a sump pump. However, on one wall in my basement, water is seeping through the cinder block and causing mold to form. This wall is located on the side of the house where the driveway is and the mold is located on the part of the wall that is directly below my side entry door. We have tried to stop water from entering by caulking around the house on the driveway side and underneath the entry door and have applied dry-lock masonry waterproof paint to the wall but the wall is still wet. I do not have water on the floor of the basement, just resting on the wall and causing mold to form. Is my interior waterproofing system faulty? Any ideas on how to fix the problem?
