I have a kitchen sink that is clogged. It is a dual sink with a garbage disposal. When I turn on the disposal it works, but the water goes right up the other side. I tried liquid plumber and plunging but it is still clogged! What do I do?

Assuming you have only one drain trap (that "U" shaped looking thing below where your pipes tie in from your sinks and garabage disposal) You most likely have something stuck in your drain trap. It will have to be taken apart to get whatever is stuck in it out.

Before going any further get a bucket and put under drain trap to catch water.

Simple enough to do.as long a you are careful. Should have a nut on each end of the drain trap. loosen them off and remove the drain trap. clean it out then replace it and tighten the nuts, When finished check for leaks.

Use either a large pair of Channel locks or a strap wrench to loosen the nuts. Both Home Depot and Lowes sell wrenches made especially for that as well and they are inexpensive.

Try some baking soda and let it work for a while. If that does not do it, put some alka seltzer tablets in it. After it has worked on the clog put the stopper on the garbage disposal side and use a plunger on the other side. Good luck. If it could be grease, add some real hot water.

It sounds like the p-trap is clogged. You can disconnect the trap under your sink. It is the piece in the drain system under your sink, shaped like the letter U. Uncouple both ends and clean out. If it as a metal piece, you may have to replace it. They are inexpensive at your local home or hardware store.

Put on some Rubber/Vynal Gloves, then remove the P-Trap, have a catch pan under it. Drop it in he catch pan, carry it outside and start either working on it, or replaceing with a new one. The Gloves and movement is becuase of the chemicals and stuff you have allready applied to it. Might wanna wear Safter Glasses and stuff also.

That's what the "S" trap is for, to take apart and clear the drain.
