I went from 2000 watts incandesent to 400 watts cfl. Should it make a noticeable difference on a monthly basis, or would it be more like on a yearly basis?

Are is making funny noises and dying. The hood is labeled with the brand Nautilus. But I'm not sure how to tell what the model is. This range is over 10 years old, so not sure what the match it up with a replacement model.

It looks fairly straightforward to replace, but any tips in that area would be great!

i have a battery charger that needs a switch to be placed on the "12V" or "6V" option. nowhere on the mower battery does it state whether it's a 12v or 6v battery. how can i determine which it is. also, the battery is a maintenance free battery (if that makes a difference)

The fan in my master bedroom wasn't working. So I replaced the switch. The new switch didn't work, so I put the old switch back. Now the lights in my master bedroom, kitchen. guest bathroom and a bedroom do not work now. All on the same side of the house. I went and replaced the circuit breaker thinking the issue might be there, but no luck even with the new one. Any ideas on where the problem may lay? Thanks!

We inherited our house after my husbands grandfather died. We know very little because it was a rental property. It was built in the 60s or 70s. We have a thermastat in each room that is round and you turn it clockwise to adjust the temperature. When the heating kicks on, you can hear fluid flushing through. We don't have a furnace or a boiler. We have a normal hot water tank. Also, do we have to do anything maintanance wise with this. Recently I found a small patch of mold on our ceiling and I'm just wondering if the pipes cracked or if my gutters were overflowing because of all the leaves. We will be cleaning the gutters tomorrow morning but what else should we do? We looked in the attic and the old insulation on that side of the house looks a bit moist. Do we need to replace all that or will it dry out. Note: The ceiling was not soft, nor was the drywall. I do remember that our roof was just replaced about 4-5 years ago so it shouldn't be that! Thanks!

There was water damage to my house and when I went to remove my old baseboards some of the plaster just crumbled leaving gaping holes. I need to put up new baseboards, but don't have much to nail them to.

I am looking at buying a house which is empty but one of the rooms has a ceramic tiled floor and the grout has furred/foamed up and is white in colour.
The seller says the foamy stuff is because the builder/bodger used the wrong grout?

Can any one shed any light on this

Cheers

I am on the market looking to buy a house. I just may have found the "perfect" house. It has EVERYTHING I want, size, parking, LOCATION, but has electric baseboards in the whole house!!! I imagine they did this since it was built in '87 (which is great for Massachusetts- everything is old here with lead paint)
How much is it to change out the entire heating system in a 3 level 1900 sq ft house (ballpark) I would use central heat and central air (why not) unless an alternative method of gas heating was significantly lower. I am keeping in mind it will cost me $20k-$30k to de-lead another home since I have kids, this isn't the case in this house since it was built after 1979. Any ball park number for those who know about construction would be great.
