Changed the filter and there is still black sediment in my drinking water. Without the filter, there is no black sediment.

Any advice? Besides remove the filter (not an option, I have a baby)

Check the directions on the filter package. some filters require you to run a certain amount of water through the filter to get rid of the excess charcol. Also if you are still getting the same color of water, then I would return the filter to the store and get another one as it might be defective.

Good Luck :-)

Did you leave the last filter in too long? The charcoal could have backed into your water line, just flush all the taps completely, with the filter and attachments off the faucet. I know of no other problems with Britas. It's generally the best one.

You have to run a few gallons through the filter. If it is still leaving sediment, return the filter as there is a tear in the screen that hols the charcoal in.

The charcoal is somehow leaking out of the filter.
