I live in SE PA and installed sod in September. It is well established and looks good. I have mowed it several times, gradually reducing the height to the middle setting on my lower. I haven't applied anything to it yet. What do I need to do now, and in the Spring, to make sure it continues doing well?

hi, i dont have much of a garden and would like to feed the wild birds from my bedroom window (upper storey).

how would i go about this and is there any specialist equipment for feeding birds from windows?

i had thought about suction cups or screws on the wall but was worried the contraption would fall and land on somebodys head!

i just want a simple feeder to give a small amount of seed and some water and maybe a fat ball, i dont mind making one but i dont no what sort of design to go for...

also, do you think it would be wise to put a few plants out to attract them, or would a windowbox on a high window be too dangerous. the problem is i dont know how i would fix the feeders etc. to the ledge or window, any ideas???

i suppose i could look at pet bird feeders to see if they'd be suitable...

With the approaching summer months, I'm planning on eating outdoors a lot more on a large deck area. Does anyone know of an effective fly and mosquito repellent (or even just a fly repellent) for outdoor dining areas? Doesn't matter whether it's a bug zapper, commercial spray or organic solution - happy to try anything at this point, as long as it doesn't smell bad. Thanks, A.

I recently bought a house, and the previous owners had two small children. I don't have any kids, but am planning to in the future. The house has a playset (the large, expensive kind). I'd like to temporarily convert it to something else while I don't have any kids. Any ideas what I could do with it? Most of it is set in concrete except for the slide, etc., so I could partially dismantle it and store the parts in the garage. I don't want to completely get rid of it, because it would be expensive to rebuild.

There is a house just down the road from where I live that has a very overgrown garden. The brambles are at least as tall as me (5 foot) The property is private (not a council house or I would have reported it to the local council), all around it is rubbish such as car parts, empty bottle crates, ripped bin bags with rubbish spilling out.I'd be very worried if it was right next door to me.All the other houses around here are well kept.Is there anything that can be done in order to get the occupants to clean up? Surely it is a health risk and would draw vermin to the area, we have seen rats close by.The house right next door to it is undergoing renovation and is not yet occupied.

my garden is SUPER over grown with brambles, after many hours of slave labour, i've managed to thin them all out. My question is, how do i get rid of the little stumps left without having to dig them out one by one....will regular mowing kill them off?
