beech tree sheds it's leaves the same time as other desciduos trees in late autumn. And can someone tell me why the autumn colours of the leaves vary from region to region. For exmple where I live the autumn leaves have little or no colour whilst 30 miles inland the colours are a glorious variety of colours.

Leaves die and fall off the trees before the winter. Its usually the windiest time during the fall. As I'm raking I thought maybe leaves serve as a blanket for the grass during the winter snow. Maybe we're raking them too soon? Are there any nutrients in leaves benefiting the ground and grass? If left on the ground will they sufficate the grass? Anyone have any expert knowledge on this subject? :)

One specimen grew vines of at least 3 feet or more, however I think that it will grow alot longer?
The leaves look alot like poison ivy, yet this leaf has a sharp point at the end and 3 points on the sides with a vein running to each point. ( the points are not very large)
The new leaves are lighter in color.

The frog is very noisey and 'tocks' all night, keeping me awake. I have tried catching it, but it's very fast and dives to the bottom of the pond. If I empty the pond, it will just come back. Are there any fish that would encourage the frog to leave home? How can I trap it and relocate it?

I have Orchids at home, they give them to us, or we buy them, but I don't know what are they, some a paphios and some phalaenopsis, but others I have no idea. ¿Is there a site where I can see pics of different orchids and find which are the ones I have?

:)

I planted a rose bush and it died right after i planted it a year ago. last week I noticed a little twig that is a rose plant, red leaves, thorns: about 3 inches away from where I planted the original bush. it is about 6 inches tall. Will this be a healthy rose bush with flowers on it? how do I care for it to keep it growing. I kill every rose bush I ever plant. Live in Kansas.

I found some beautiful Azaleas w/red and white flowers, they look like peppermint. If I keep them indoors can I keep them blooming all year long? And/or what is the best way to keep them in bloom ? Is it best to put them outside? If outside, do I plant them now or wait until spring? I live in Georgia, slightly North of Atlanta. We probably will get some light snow, some light freezes, and some temps below 36 this winter. Perhaps colder, with bad luck, but probably not for extended times. (compared to North New Jersey where I lived for 16 years - a piece of cake)
Thanks for any help. I have a slight brown thumb, that is a light green with some luck. I also have a question about an inside tree with pink and green leaves. Some kind of Ficus? I think it hates me - or just what I am doing to it. It looks very sick and keeps loosing it's leaves. Especially after I moved it from the porch to inside (it was getting colder) after only 2 weeks of buying. Lots of changes in short time for it.

My mom, sister, and I love to garden. And we're planting a bunch of new flowers. I think it'd be cool to divide the flowers up by color. Have a patch of red, then orange, green, etc. I love the idea of a sharp contrast. They disagree. A nursery in our town does that and it looks really cool. What do you think?

We have a medium size garden, and I need something to trim long grass around the fences and tree. I have tried a cheep electric one before, and it was pathetic, the line would not feed. I would be using it approx twice a month for an hour or so at a time. Female friendly would help, something that does not require so much fiddling and easy to start, and looking at spending under $200 Australian. All advice would be greatly apreciated. I think I heard somewhere that a straight shaft is better, but that is all I know.
Thank you!

I wat to plant a saucer magnolia tree, and my HOA wants me to install a root barrier? most people don't even know what that is, let alone tell me how to install one. I don't know what size to use for my tree, or the circumference, or depth. a store tried to sell me one that was 18 feet deep. I'm completely lost. By the way the tree is supposed to be a variation of a magnolia tree.

When this plant was given to me, it had many deep purple blooms. I have it outside, with full to partial sun exposure, and it was doing okay - no new blooms, though - until I neglected to water it for two days. When I checked on it, the blooms and leaves were drooped over. I immediately watered it, and kept my eye on for the next week or two, but it never seemed to recover, and the blooms changed from deep purple to almost white.
My neighboor suggested I trim it by removing the drooping leaves and blooms, which I did.
It's been well over a month, and it's still nearly bald and very sad looking.
Any advice? Can it be saved?

I have two trees in the backyard that I want gone. Well, I am cutting them down so they are about 4 feet tall. They are leaning way to much and they will come down on the garage in the right storm. It would take about 45 minutes per tree and they are not large at all.
