for example.. if I was to cut open an apple, and plant the seeds, what would happen, would a tree grow? Or like a lemon or orange... or is there a special way to prepare the seeds for planting?

hi, i keep finding these bugs at home and starting to worry if they may be dangerous.
It looks like a small grey sail without a shell, or maybe like a house centipede, without body legs, it only has legs in front and back, maybe 2-3 pairs total. about 0.5 inch long. I cannot find any picture online that would resemble it.

when winter comes i am planning on turning, either my waterfall, or pipe to the shallow end off. i am doing this to reduce the curent and to stop the water getting to cold. i know that the wam water is at the bottom where my pump is, now should i stop my water fall that falls directly above the pump or stop the pipe that returns half the water to the shallow end. i have thought about raising the pump from the bottom but a lot of waste builds up on the bottom.

It is October. They are to be planted between October and December. Do I go out and plant them or do I put them in my fridge until December? I am so confused. Should I supplement the soil with something?

I recently bought my first bird feeder. The man I bought it from advised me on what types of seed to buy. I remember him saying that cardinals especially like those black sunflower seeds. We have cardinals here and I like seeing them outside my kitchen windows, so I bought a big bag of black sunflower seeds and put them in the bird feeder. I haven't seen any birds use my feeder until today. I saw a few brown sparrows (I think) fly up to the feeder and then fly off, but I haven't seen any birds since. I would have thought they'd have spread the word about a new feeder in town! Now I'm wondering if they don't like those black sunflower seeds. Did I misunderstand the guy? Did he mean they will only attract cardinals? Thanks!

Our yard is bordered by an ugly grey cinder block wall. We have a lovely vine covering it 7 months of the year but the leaves fall off during cold months. My husband doesn't want to put a trellis in front because we have 13-year old grapevines there (which also disappear in winter). Is there a vine that will:
1. climb a wall
2. hold leaves in somewhat cold weather
3. survive SoCal summer heat?

I live in C.A. and I have at some places seen a carpet like growth of tiny clovers about 1/4 or 1/3 of the size of regular clovers, I usually find them growing in very moist, shaded places where moss grows very well. I have seen it grow under bushes, behind brick walls, and under concrete steps. I love the plant but don't know what it is called, it's oh so green. I love moss also ;)

Hello! I am from Tampa, Florida - I am trying to find the perfect tree (maybe topiary or ornamental) to plant along side of our house where you can see underneath the tree so the snakes can't hide or are visible if they are there...any suggestions on the best tree to get?

My mom is a newcomer to plants and she's surprised that some plants she bought are blooming so beautifully. She has begonias and a plant called coleus that she has planted in some flower boxes in the yard. First, they're outgrowing the flower boxes and she doesn't know how to take care of them for the fall and winter since we live in the midwest. What care does she need to take with them for the winter or will they just die and she just has to get new one's next year? Thanks.
