I have a pond, fish, and plants my husband got me for my birthday, that I installed about 6 yrs or 7 yrs ago. It's a Lil bigger than yours though. It has stayed very clean but it takes alot of products for me to keep that way.Money basically lol..But this is what I use together:
Jungle Clarifer
Jungle Pond Guard
BedKett Sludge Remover or Jungle Brand
Jungle Pond Ammonia Chloramine Remover
PH Up and PH Down must haves to keep fish alive. My koi,and goldfish have never died yet that I got in the beginning and I even moved 2 hours away put the pond back in and there still alive!
Also you may want a heater for winter but I have one that I paid 200.00 for and have never used yet and my pond freezes over in the winter. My fish are still living! My water plants always die when it becomes winter.I don't bring them in the house during that time I just buy new ones the next year.I have a couple that are winter plants also that do live through it.Also my fish always eat Lily pads so i quit buying them!No matter what I still end up doing a lil handing cleaning every couple of months and every year i drain it and refill.Jungle pond products seem to be the best and aren't to expensive either.

I use barley straw in the summer --it works quickly on the hot days but you can never depend on the weather so you can put it in in early spring and then it takes approx. 6-8 weeks to start working (I think). You can also buy the liquid and pellet forms but I haven't ever tried that. Dr's. Smith and Foster have a wide selection of stuff. You can email them for a book. I think their site is www.drsfoster&smith.com They also have catalogs for all sorts of animals. I don't change my water unless it is absolutely neccessary, and I haven't had a problem with it at all. You can count every fish in there, plus there are babies. My fish survive through the winter with a $20 heater. Unless I have somekind of serious problem I don't mess with the water or anything else. My fish have been there 3 years and have not lost one yet, (knock on wood) and there is both koi and goldfish.. I do normally end up with more in the spring time than what was in there at the beginning of winter. I started with 10-12 fish and 2 koi and now have 22 gold fish and I have even given some away, plus the 2 koi. Normally with a good pump system and good plants that should be enough. Oh, and on occasion I do put some non-idozied salt in for good health!! Hope this helps!
Good Luck!

Ponds have to be cleaned regularly. They have to have a filter and a pump. The amount of fish and plants has to be balanced with the size of the pond. You have to change the water in the pond periodically. There are no magic things to help do this. Adding a bunch of chemicals is not the right answer. There are many good websites that explains water quality in ponds and how to maintain it.

I have 2 that are a little larger than yours, and have never cleaned them, or added any chemicals. When I got started, my pro said to just keep a balanced ecosystem- Proper plants/proper number of fish. I try, and it's working. I also have bullfrogs for song.
