Check all the connections at the starter and ignition switch for being loose or corroded or possibly for bad wiring...make sure the battery is not run down. Test for power at the starter with ignition switch on and a test light.

Make sure
1.The spark plug fires. Remove and look for an arc when the motor turns over. If not, start looking for bad connections. You also may have a fouled plug, especially if it's oily. Make sure the plug gap is within the manufacturer's limits. Many mowers have a safety switch that shorts out the ignition system when no one's in the seat. Look for a problem there.

2. Are you getting fuel?

Sounds like a loose connection to me also.

There are several things to do to keep up a mower. Keep a check on the gas and oil. Sometimes you need to change the oil and the spark plug. Once I had a mower that wouldn't start, the filter was clog up with dust. I took it apart and cleaned, ran like a charm . . .

You say it was working but you stopped for a few minutes. Is it in gear or are the blades still engaged?
