I planted two 7 ft. sugar maple trees last March in my yard. One of the trees greened up beautiful in the Spring--the other planted only 12 ft away in the same soil was slow to leaf out in the Spring--- later in the early summer it started turning a pale yellow--brownish color leaves while the other one did beautiful. I hand watered both and used osmocote fertilizer in the Spring on both --same amt.--- They are planted in the same kind of soil--about 12 ft apart--still one did well and the other acts as tho it wants to die. These trees were expensive and I hate to lose one-- The only thing I know that could possibly be the problem is they are 3 ft away from the drive way. could this affect one and not the other? I sprayed with malathion spray, thinking it could be a bug problem--no results--- then I sprayed with a fungicide thinking it could be fungus. Please tell me what is wrong with this one tree and what will make it come out green next Spring?

I recently moved into an apartment and I'm very interested in growing my own veggies. Mostly peppers and herbs. I was thinking about something small I could keep out in the patio.

Also, is there any veggies that I can grow indoors? Please keep in mind I'm a single guy in a tiny apartment so it doesn't have to be a huge arrangement.

thanks

I've never had much of a green thumb, but three of my serrano plants have survived and one is blooming.

The weather is starting to turn colder, at what temp should I bring them inside at night (they're potted). It's getting into the forties at night now, but they still look okay.

I know they can be picked at either the green or the red stage, but what's are the pros/cons of each stage?

Also, how do I preserve them?

Lastly, I heard the peppers are hotter in hot weather, this true? If so, I'm going to have some mild (relatively) peppers, which is okay.

I live in Michigan and just about a month ago planted a baby Eastern Redbud tree. It's about 5-6 feet tall and the trunk is between 1 maybe 2 inches around. It came with a long plastic rod attached to it with like garbage bag ties attaching the rod to the tree. I did put a stake into the ground to help with support & I attached the rope from the stake to the plastic thing attached to the tree trunk.

Now my question is should I have staked it? If yes, how many stakes should I use & how long dose it need to be staked? Should I remove the plastic rod?

Everything I seem to read says NOT to stake a new tree, unless it's not straight...my tree it pretty straight. But I am a bit worried 'cause it's so small & winters here can be pretty tough. Thanks for any help.

It is a beautiful bush, about eight - ten feet tall and it looks like there is a new baby bush about ten feet from it. I just moved here and found it out along the edge of the woods.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and have mushrooms in my yard. I'm wondering if they are of the "magic" type. Anyone know how I can identify what is the variety I seek to trip. Please hurry because time is short. Thanks.

I want to try growing a citrus plant from a seed. I live in the UK, so it would probably live in my conservatory. I am not a serious gardener, but I would like to try and grow a fruit tree for fun.

Which citrus fruit (does not have to be from the above) would be best?

Which one would bear the most fruit, take the shortest time to bear fruit, and how would I grow it from scratch? etc.

Thank you for any comments!

I have a very old rose bush, that climbs a trelis at least 10 ft tall. I don't know if and when, and how to trim it, so that it comes back next year. The bush is about 100 years old, has some very large stems, and is currently making its way through my rain gutters, not to mention attacking people walking by. Is there any one out there that knows how I should go about this?

I bought a Sago Palm last week from the Home Depot's garden center. It was in a small pot, so I decided to give it more room to stretch it's roots. When I removed the plant from the container, I discovered it had been GLUED into the pot!!! Not glued everywhere, but just around the ornamental gravel on top and in the bottom around the now pot-bound roots!

I put it in a 5-gallon pot, gave it fresh soil and some miracle-gro. I watered it in, and may have flicked some of the miracle-gro onthe fronds by accident. (could that be it?) It is not two days later, and some of the fronds are starting to turn brown. It's strange how it's happening, as it's only happening on one side...see photo below:

Can anyone give me some ideas? Am I killing it? I didn't over-water or over-fertilize....it's just turning brown!

What can I do to help him grow back?\

Ok so i have this money tree, named Herb. He has been doing great the past 2 years. Now all of a sudden he lost all his leave exept one... I think it was because he was in direct sunlight and he may have gotten burned. But I now placed him in a shady area. His last little branch/leaf looks like it may be drying up. Is there ANYTHING i can do? Will he grow back? He is EXTREMELY important to me. I'm like one of those crazy attached to my plant people. Please help me save Herb.

I can hear them over everything. I understand that salt burns their feet, well please tell me how this works or give me any advice on how to rid my yard of them. They don't pay rent so they've GOTTA GO!!!
