You can plant mint anywhere but a contained area is best, a large tub of sorts is ideal. If you need to plant it in the garden, restrict its root growth by lining the hole with something strong, not the base. This will stop the roots from spreading all around your garden. The secret on keeping mint is to keep it wet at all times, don`t drown it though, and do not let it go to seed, if you see anything that looks remotely different, not quite a flower, cut it off.

It may need a top dressing and feed, as a vigourous grower like mint (especially if you are cutting it) will exhaust the feed in the compost.
Planting mint in the garden, it can be a good idea to sink a large pot or bucket with the bottom cut out, as mint can be a pest when it spreads by runners.

This became into my consistent furnish for mint juleps for ten years till we got here to FL. heady heady scent is great and the horses enjoyed it each now and then. And as reported above it has a tendency to take over. determine it has extremely some room to strengthen or strengthen it in a window field or potted. Very hardy. i do no longer understand of any vegetation that circumvent bees and wasps. touch the County Extention Agent on your county. look interior the telephone e book below State Agricultural companies.

DON'T put it in the garden without havig some method of restricting it, bury a bucket with holes in it or at least push some slate in around the plant as when it gets going in the spring it will spread out fast.

Probably needs to be planted into a larger pot. Mints are aggressive in growth.
