Actually Im in mid Cal (between Sac and SF) but I want a front yard that is reasonably green colored without putting alot of water on it in the summer (unless sometimes grey-water). I wouldnt be against a return to something that was originally in the area also as long as its grassy-short.

And no I dont want to put in rock and paint it green.

It is kind of rainy so the ground will be soft. Do I need to know anything before I go and try to transplant these herbs into inside pots? Is it even possible?

We live in the country and have just planted two new trees. The trees are about 8 feet tall and about 3 inches in diameter around the trunk. Our problem is that it is deer season and deers then to destroy our trees but eating them or rubbing up against them.

Do you have any ideas or tips on how to prevent this?

1) I've grown 3 leeks for the first time. They look good and leeky. Someone said you should wait for frost before lifting them so I was waiting until November/December. However, 2 of them seem to be growing a bud thingy - like an unopened flower - and I'm wondering if they are going to seed. Help. Should I lift them now.
2) I've also got 3 little aubergines under plastic. Will they get bigger (South of England) or again, should I pick them now?

What is a cheap and easy way to kill the lawn weed Bindi.

I have read the labels of weed killer and they all say for use on bindi but they also say they kill broad leaf grasses which is the grass type we have.

Is there a way to kill them without killing the grass as well?

I've been sick this past week with the flu :( This morning my boyfriend came by and brought two (it's our lucky number) of my favorite flowers: pink roses! When he brought them, they were already in water and in a vase. How do I care for them??

Warning: I do not have a green thumb! Lol :)
