Hi,
Lupine is a very striking, bold upright spikes dense with pea-like flowers, in intense blues to creams. Best placed at the back of the border for cutting, or naturalizing. Stately 3' spikes in wide color range and many lovely bicolors, bloom from May to June. Attractive foliage. Prefers cool weather. Zones 3-7. Perennial. Full or partial sun.

The flowers look like little brightly colored pine trees in design amongst green folage.

Lupin, often spelled lupine in North America, is the common name for members of the genus Lupinus in the legume family (Fabaceae).

Lupins are popular ornamental plants in gardens. There are numerous hybrids and cultivars. Some species, such as Garden Lupin (Lupinus polyphyllus) and hybrids like the Rainbow Lupin (L. × regalis) are common garden flowers. Others, such as the Yellow Bush Lupin (L. arboreus) are considered invasive weeds when they appear outside their native range.

I hope it helps!

Lupine (or lupin) is an herbaceous perennial (sometimes annual) which produce columns of beautifully colored foliage (depending, of course, on the sort of plant and the skill and luck of the gardner). Some attract butterflies.
