You can put vaseline on the parts that you cut, that will help some.

Actually, yes.
There are spray enamels you can buy from your local hobby/craft store; coat the entire pumpkin, inside and out, with the enamel. Wait until it dries, then apply another coat. Repeat a third time, and it should be encased in a clear, watertight enamel coating.

Not if it is going to be sitting outside or in a room. But like the other posters have said, you can freeze it.

Maybe if you freeze it.....or sprinkle some 'Fruit Fresh' on it. At least it will last a little longer.

we always drew on them with magic markers when it was too early.......then cut them out a week before Halloween.
