On here I got an answer that advised me on my shrubs and bushes ( I am a flower gardener before) to get good fastest growth on my privacy shrubs to get optimal growing conditons. i know this includes proper light conditions and I have good soil, but in bushes and shrubs what about fertilizers and when and water and ??? let's just do Oregon grape here. I do have the new Sunset Western Gardener's guide and I read that, but your specific experienced answers have helped me more. WEndy thanks so smuch

I tried to grow some catnip but so far nothing is sprouting up after 12 days. I dug into one of the plastic pods and found none of the seeds in the soil have sprouted. I have given them plenty of water and I have used regular potting soil mix.

I want to try again. Am I using the wrong soil? Any advice is appreciated----my 2 cool cats will appreciate it too. The catnip is for them.

I am wondering how you make bonsai plants grow small... Something to do with cutting roots and training branches?

I have an interest in them and I am well aware it takes years and years but thats ok...

So for now Im just trying to figure a few things out...

Silk floss tree, monkey pod tree and pencil palm are a few I thought to look nice so far but I need to know how the plants grow small... I dont think they do it by themselves, so how can I find out step by step how to make a little plant small and turn it into a bonsai?

I am Tri-lingual. I hope I spelled propragonate right? I am just spelling it the way it sounds in my ears. Nevertheless, I picked up the button's with the leaves from Black Eyed Susan tonight. How can I make them grow in my own garden? Do they multiply by them selves? Could I still plant them even so it's mid August?

For all the gardeners out there. Hi How are you. We planted pumpkin seed on June 5th of this year, we have vines up the waaazooo right now, Lots of buds and flowers but no pumpkins. Why arn't our flowers growing into pumpkins? I have also self-pollenated them. We also planted watermelon seeds around the end of June and still no watermelons either. We finally got a bud on it so, I'll wait and see about that one.Our neighbor planted watermelons, pumpkins, corn, etc. and they have fruit and veggies growing by the tons. Why won't ours grow?
