Just after it gets dark, but still light enough for you to see, take a garden hose with a good nozzle and soak them down real good. Give em' a good shower! It will be too dark for them to fly away and dry off. They will have to stay wet for a good part of the night, something that they will not like very much. I guarantee you, after two or three nights of this feather soaking, community shower, they will find somewhere else to do there roosting.

Shooting won't work well, there are always more pigeons around to replace the ones you shoot.
Besides Hot Foot, you can also put strips with nails sticking up on the ledges so the pigeons can't land -- available at hardware stores.

If they are landing on ledges or a roof you can use a product called "HotFoot"; made expressly for shooing birds from public buildings. It's a goo that you spread on rails, ledges or shingles ( places where normally only birds have easy access to) and it gets on the pigeons' feet when they land. Let's just say they only visit once.

Loud cannon-like reports do well temporarily, even without live ammo.
Owl & hawk decoys actually work pretty well - if they are the expensive kind, that look real, and have heads that move. It's also advisable to move the entire decoy now and then as well.

Throw few bags of birdseeds on an adjacent building. Hopefully they'll move to the new home with plenty of food.

Get a falcon. They make nice pets, and can bring you hot dogs.
Seriously, those nail strips. Like the carpet holding down things. Or they make special one with long spikes.
Try rubber snakes. Sometimes they work. They need to move sometimes.

Shooting would work, just get a nice airgun running on compressed air; quiet and deadly
