I know how to raise and fertilize roses, but how can I breed and register roses of my own efforts. Most roses I can buy or tend to are hybrids and anyone who understands genetics knows that breeding hybrids can be a tricky and stunted endeavor. My real question becomes how can I begin breeding roses that I can call my own and not infringe upon some patent or registration. My final goal is that on my wife and my twentieth wedding anniversary I can give her a bouqet of twenty roses I can call by her name.

As I said before, I know how to raise and care for roses, but I'm looking more for the professional or amateur breeder's experience or knowledge or people who might know how to get involved in that game.

Thanks

I have a area of ground about 5m by 20m I set it aside a few years ago for growing veg but never seem to have the time to get started. What I'd like to know is, will I have to pluck out the weeds or can I get away with just turning over the ground, if so is perhap hiring a rotavator the best solution.
Will the weeds not re-grow if the ground just turned? Is using weed killer on a veg plot adviseable ?
Thanks in advance

I had a friend that always had something blooming in her yard no matter what season. She had dogwoods, azaleas, etc. I live in Georgia. I'd like advice on this. I want flowers all year round.

I live in Nevada, and my backyard is unfinished, it's just desert dirt. I'd like to fill it in with rocks, maybe the pinkish red ones, nothing too nice though. How much do these cost ber bag or per pound, and where can I get them myself?

Is anyone else bothered by the bright outside lights people use. i can understand using outside lights when people are coming home but leaving them on all night and shining through my windows is so annoying. I like to be able to see the stars but all I can see is the razor sharp outside lights. Also it is depressing to see an orange sky caused by all the neon lights from shopping centers. Why must they light up the sky too. Even the snow looks orange. If you left your lights on all night would you even be aware of it? Would you be angry if someone asked you to shade them or point the light down or better yet turn them off around 8 or 9 o'clock PM.

I live in Tennessee in the southeastern part of the US and I believe it is zone 5 . The temperatures for the last few weeks have been getting up to around lower 40's or mid 30's with lows in the teens. I dont think that will change for this next week either. I have noticed people buying pre-emergant at the store already and have noticed last year that some of my neighbors and lawn companies put it out around mid February. I have always thought this was way to early. I put mine out at the spring equinox (March 21) or first week of April. Which is better you think for my area? Why? What will happen if you put it out too early?
