I thought this was a flower so I let it grow in the garden when I moved into my house and it has taken over the flower beds, and lawn (in shady spots where the grass wasn't healthy to begin with). The root is white and thin like a hair and goes down about 1.5 feet, then below that there is a huge parsnip-like root (so if you pull it the thin part breaks and you're left with the big root that grows back at least two plants!). Any ideas what this is and how to kill it (it is mixed in with my perrenials). The pic is of it as a mature plant flowering: http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/lilith984/Weed.jpg

I'm interested in putting ponds or fountains a distance from the source of electricity so I'm thinking solar panels. There's lots of sun so that's no problem.

I want to grow peas in container gardens on my deck, using the lattice work decking as a place for them to climb. I want to plant a variety-english, early, snow, snap, etc. The package says to sow outdoors 8 weeks before last frost, which would be now for NC. Can I start them in jiffy pot greenhouses indoors, or should I put the jiffy pots outside after planting? Thanks for any help

I see people posting questions with pictures in them on other forums. I was trying to send a picture of a shrub on here, but after 6 times, still would not post. Is it maybe not allowed on the garden forum? anybody else tried to send a picture in a question on the garden forum?

I want a nice evergreen groundcover that is durable enough to walk on , yet looks good.
I saw Irish moss ( i dont think it looks special) , I like the look of the Cotoneaster. But it seems to grow fairly tall. Any suggestions?

I have a very moist house by default. I have these horrible fungus gnats that hover around my plants. I heard that if I somehow plant yelllow stickies in or around the plant, they will attract the fungus gnats and get stuck. Is this true? I've tried expensive chemicals ,but they just won't go away.

I saw Burpee had this $17 make your own starter paper pot plant mold. That is really lame. Does anyone have any original, inexpensive eays to do this out of newpaper. I am a thrifty person and I just know there is a better, less expensive way to do this.

I've used germinated lima bean seeds (or maybe it was a pinto bean) for a science lab that my teacher had germinated but I don't know how to germinate them.

My colors are different shades of blue and white and the ceremony will be outdoors in July.

I would prefer white flowers along with the blue hydrangeas, but other suggestions are appreciated!

:) Thanks!
