I'm in the Oroville area. Plant your seed when the nights stay at 50 degrees or above. With our weather I would say you will have to wait about another month. The nights have to be that warm and you don't want the days to be too hot. Water it twice a day with a hand held nozzle so you don't push the dirt around too much or you will have some clumps and some bare patches. We are on a slope and the rain last year pushed all of ours around and made it very patchy. If we have a mild spring you will have time to reseed any bare patches. If it gets hot too fast, which we know it can do, you will have to wait until fall to reseed any bad spots. Happy planting!

Lawn seed is best spread in cooler weather. Hot days will dry the sprouts out. The seeds should be raked into the dirt to cover,
and the soil needs to be kept moist until the grass appears. Spreading old hay or straw losely atop the soil provides shade and keeps the soil moist. It also helps with erosion.

Good luck
