i have an unused garden that's mostly sand and rocks now, but full of weeds.
i have spent quite a long time manually removing them . however, after a couple of days, weeds start popping back up. what's your suggestion?

We have reseeded for 2 falls and a spring. We loosen the dirt (very poor quality) seed and fertilize. The grass will grow but then it dies. Can't tell if the excess rain from the roof or the roots hit the rock hard dirt or something else is causing the grass die. I need suggestions please. Husband wants to till up the dirt and reseed this fall. I am leaning towards sod. It is a very shady area. PLEASE ANY ADVICE?

I live in the Upper Midwest (zone 4), and I'd like to order a bunch of bulbs to plant this fall. I'm looking for something a little unique- not just the same old red tulips. But I'd like to get a good deal! Any ideas?

I have work very hard on restoring the garden in my yard, (neglected and overgrown for 9 years). It is on a hill and alot of the soil had dropped down from this hill above. There are day lillies, Irises, hostas, lily of the vally, and other perennials already in the garden. I have 60 or so other bulbs that I am going to plant. Can I add more soil and mulch without digging up the existing plants? The soil that is currently there is very sandy and does not drain well. What can I do to help this. I know adding compost and mulch will help the soil and with weedin. But what I don't know is what to do with the existing plants, When the best time to plant the new bulbs (they all need to planted before first frost, but before the mulch?), and how to mix the soil and add the mulch.
This is my first gardening attempt, so good so far but I've never taken it this far before. Any advise would be helpful
I live in northern Minnesota, (Zone 4b, a few miles from lake superior)

We have had alot of rain the past month and today I noticed rings of toad stools(fairy rings) in some neighbors yards. I was wondering what causes this to happen? Too much moisture? Mold? Mildew? what?

North Louisiana, want to landscape around horse breeding barn, but what can I plant that is not toxic to horses. Would like to plant crape myrtles and bradford pears down drive way, but have a 750' concrete trough that runs along the outside of paddocks that I want to plant flowers in. Also plant hedges along outside of barn. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the Katrina aftermath of last year 2005, or is it just high humidity this year 2006? I have noticed mold growing in my garden in 5 to 12 inches of soil. I water only in the mornings every other day for 10 to 15 minutes on auto sprinkler system in no need of repair, but noticed quite a few neighbors watering at night. So is it funk or is it my watering habits gone so old it grows mold?

Current lawn is a sunny blend mix. Location: Indianapolis ,IN area.I have an irrigation system and the lawn is watered every other day or as conditions dictate. This appears to be an annual problem. In each case I overseed the lawn. Looks good in early spring but goes haywire following high temperature and humidity conditions.

The yellow and brown starts at the bottom and works it's way up. It usually starts by mid-season and the plants look awful before the fruit ripens. Is it a disease or a fungus?
