I moved to a new home in Florida about 8 months ago. I have a grapefruit tree and a tangerine tree in my yard. I know nothing about growing citrus trees. Both produced lots of healthy awsome fruit. My grapefruit tree is fine, but in the past month or so, my tangerine tree lost all of it's leaves except for one branch. My neighbor has the same type of tree and hers is flourishing with leaves and fruit. I don't do anything for my trees....but someone told me to clear all the grass underneith of my fruit trees and give them a citrus stake. If that's what's wrong....why is my grapefruit tree ok and my neighbors tangerine tree too? She doesn't do anything to her tree except leave it alone. We did just go through a major draught...but again...why would my tangerine tree be the only tree affected? Can my tangerine tree be saved or should I just cut it down and plant another one?

My garden of squash, pumpkins, bell peppers, peas, tomatoes, and green beans has just begun to grow. The bugs get to them immediately when they are just a few inches high.

I'm not selling them I just want a few more for my yard.

While I was at a nursery today I couldn't find a plant that I wanted; an employee there told me it was very hard to find. I then said something about propgating another one and the owner of the nursery almost flipped her lid and told me "all plants are patented and it's illegal to propagate them unless you have a license to do so".

Something about that didn't sit right with me so I'm wondering if that's true. I'm sure you can patent a name, but can you patent a plant?
