I moved to a new home in Florida about 8 months ago. I have a grapefruit tree and a tangerine tree in my yard. I know nothing about growing citrus trees. Both produced lots of healthy awsome fruit. My grapefruit tree is fine, but in the past month or so, my tangerine tree lost all of it's leaves except for one branch. My neighbor has the same type of tree and hers is flourishing with leaves and fruit. I don't do anything for my trees....but someone told me to clear all the grass underneith of my fruit trees and give them a citrus stake. If that's what's wrong....why is my grapefruit tree ok and my neighbors tangerine tree too? She doesn't do anything to her tree except leave it alone. We did just go through a major draught...but again...why would my tangerine tree be the only tree affected? Can my tangerine tree be saved or should I just cut it down and plant another one?

You might want to check with your County Agricultural Agent. I live in California, and they are listed in the blue government section of the white pages phone book. Be sure to detail to the govt official what you have told us. They may even have an office that you can take a sample of sick leaves. Good luck on saving your tree.

Ask people that know in the neighborhood. It's a great way to meet new neighbors. Or go to a nursery and ask there.
