The sky is blue because Oxygen atoms scatter blue light more than other colors. Blue has a much shorter wavelength than red / other colors, and tiny Oxygen absorbs / releases it much more efficiently than longer wavelengths, resulting in blue color in all directions while the other colors travel in a relatively straight line from the sun. You can see the other colors when something other than oxygen (like a prism or the back of a CD) scatters their longer wavelengths.

The grass is green because the cells in grass contain lots of a green pigment molecule called Chlorophyll. Chlorophyll absorbs sunlight and passes the energy that you normally feel as heat on your skin into another form; chemical bonds. That way it is stored and can be used later instead of turning instantly into heat. Interestingly, green light does NOT help grass grow / store energy. The fact that you can see it means it is bouncing off the grass ; )

The sky is blue, due to the reflection of the ocean's blue back into the atmosphere. Grass is green due to the chlorophyll (a green substance) that is in plants that process the sun's light into energy.

In New York, the sky is kind of yellowish grey because people refuse to give up their gas guzzling giganto-cars, and the grass is green because they dump all manner of toxic chemicals on it to keep it that neon color.

You have gas? And it comes out green? Girl, you need to see a specialist. Perhaps you need to lay off the burritos, too! If you don't have a boyfriend, it is probably because of your gas problem. Seek out medical help.
