shade with plenty of water.. Any ideas? What works for you?

Keep it well watered and pick the flower buds off as soon as they form. Many herbs are indigenous to the Mediterennean so they like somewhat poor, sandy soil with really good drainage. Work some organic material into the soil and dont use any chemical fertilizers.

Herbs, unlike most vegetables and flowers, actually do not like a lot of water. Mot herbs prefer periods of moisture and dryness. Try not watering them every day like you would the rest of your garden. See what works best for you in your climate. I would start with two or three days without water - as long as you are not in an extremely dry climate. Just remeber that when you do water them, give them a nice good soaking. Let the water overflow then come back to them in a few days.

grow it indoors in pots and don't over water it this is one of the common reason for problems ...they are very tricky customers

keep it harvested frequently. Don't let it bloom. Make sure you don't plant it in relay good soil. It grows best in thin sandy or poorer soil. Good luck with that.
