Well I suppose many people who read this don't have badgers, because they have Raccoons instead... Which is about the same when it comes to nuissance, and especially tenacity and muscle power! No match for any squirrell and cat.
The only method I used successfully (without a gun or poison) is: Try to find out from which direction they are coming from, put some old meat into their path outside your property, and keep on feeding them at that spot for a few days. That should tempt them more than having to dig for worms and maggets in your lawn.
Alternatively (like my neighbour): Trap them alive, and drive at least 20 miles to release them. The farmer nearby might shoot you, though.....!

I don't have a badger problem I had squirrels everywhere digging up my flower beds.
I tried a small bit of fencing wire dug into the ground around where they dug the most. They couldn't get in and then they gave up that spot and moved on to another less harmful spot.
Live trapping is a good idea too but more move in after the scent of the first group was gone. Find out about them and find something that they hate like getting wet and put a sprinkler in that spot to turn on hard whenever something gets near it.
That works with keeping cats out of plants
.Good luck

Get two pit bulls. That might do it, they cant stand rodents of any size. If you have a neighbor that has pits, borrow them.
