I've found the best way to remove broadleaf weeds in a lawn is by spraying with chemical called; 2,4-D (usually sold as "Weed B-Gone). You can mix this WITH another chemical called triclopyr (sold as Brush Killer) and get even better results.(read the label to make sure of the contents) You may have to purchase a small hand-sprayer to apply these products.

Before you spray, deep water your lawn and avoid watering for at least 48 hours after application. Also... make sure you don't apply when it's hot, windy or if you have vegetables or small ornamental plants nearby.

You can find fertilizers mixed with the weedkiller but results vary due to uneven spreading. The secret to getting better results when applying fertilizer + weed-killer is to make the application when the leaves are wet so they'll adhere to the leaves more readily. You'll have to water your lawn prior to application or apply early in the morning when dew is present. Don't irrigate for 48 hours after.

Either of these applications will eliminate almost all of your broadleaf weeds found in lawns... including dandelions and spurge.

GOOD LUCK!

Clover is a lovely plant - why get rid of it? It's green, it has pretty white or pink flowers at mid-summer and it obviously has the right conditions to grown in your yard.

People obsess over their lawns. I don't get it. Why spend so much time and energy, not to mention water and harsh chemicals, coaching something to grown that clearly does not want to grow? It's bad for the environment and very expensive. Why not allow more native ground cover to spread? Keep a smaller patch of green grass if you want. It's more interesting and better for Mother Earth.
