Our splash guard (rubber thing that goes from the sink to the disposal) has rotted. We are having a really hard time getting the rubber unattached from the sink so we can replace it with a new one. We are using pliers and a screwdriver but the rubber ring just won't budge. Any ideas?

I have a live wire in my basement that is just dangling with wire nuts on the wires. It is a 3 wire cable w ground. I also have a wire I disconnected when remodeling that fed an outlet and ceiling light. This was a 2 wire with a ground. Can I use a junction box to tie the two cables together to get power back to my outlet and ceiling light? Would I just put a wire nut on the extra wire from the 3 wire cable? I'm assuming this would be the color wire that the 2 wire doesn't have.
Thanks!

I threw noodle soup yesterday in the toilet. Believe me, I now know just how stupid that was. It got clogged right away when my roommate went to use the bathroom. Anyway, we got some of the stuff out, but not enough. The water trickles down, 5 bottles of Drano later, so there is no sitting water in the toilet, but it still does not work. Any suggestions as to what I can do? I live in an apartment, so I don't have a garden hose or anything like that.

I plan on using it to make things as a hobby. I don't mind spending a few extra bucks to get something with more options or better performance. What do you recomend? I noticed dewalt has one for about $519 on amazon which was $400 used. Would that be a good one for what i want? I know dewalt is great.

I tried to use pliers to unscrew the drain but it was so coroded that the crossbars just fell apart. So I tried to loosen it from around the tub and the drain pipe separated from the tub. Can I fix this without taking the whole tub out? If I have to call a plumber, how much does this usually run? Thanks in advance.

Ok guys this might be kind of weird. But anyways heres the deal. Right now im low on cash and im bored, feeling creative, and i really want to build something that i can be proud of. So since i have a 1 cubic foot tool box for 50cubic feet of tools id like to try and build my own toolbox. Not to mention toolboxes are expensive. The cheap walmart ones are 100 bucks. So im probably going to make it out of wood. Its probably going to be pretty big about 3 foot tall mabye. Was wanting 3-10 drawers. Anyone got any suggestions or reasons why not to build a wood toolbox? Also what other materials besides wood should i get? Im assuming some roller things for the drawers. Advice? Thanks!

I think most sinks have three pipes into the wall under the bathroom sink. The hot water, cold water and drain pipe. I have a fourth pipe that connects above the trap. What is this pipe? You can see a picture of the pipes under my sink here:

http://thenadlers.com/bathroomsink.jpg

I have turned the water shutoffs off and disconnected the trap and there is water leaking from this fourth pipe which would normally go down the drain. I found this problem because I think the drain got clogged and the water backed up into my sink. So first, I'm not sure what this pipe is for. And second, I'm not sure why water would be coming in through it.

Thanks very much!
Eric

I am planning on painting some pieces and then attaching them sporadically to my wall to create shelves/ push boards. Any suggestions on how to attach them to the wall? It has to be easily removed since I'm in a rented apartment.

I am connecting two 2 x 4s together withe drywall screws.

I am using 2.5" screws.

I will be going through the entire 1.5" of the first 2x4 and 1" of the second 2x4.

My question is
a) what size diamteter drill bit should i use to predrill

So me (14) share my roughly 15 x 18 ft bedroom with my two younger sisters (8 and 5). Our room is tan with a horse border around the room and horse curtains (we went trhough a horse-crazy phase). I have about half the room, but no privacy and neeed some badly. I need some ideas, but also mind that we have a ceiling fan in the middle of the room. I want a) some sort of seperator, and a new possible color scheme. Any ideas?

BTW, I'm no super girly. More of a tomboy who likes fashion.
