Every desk I've seen is far too small for my needs. It has to have enough space for a 17'' CRT monitor, a subwoofer, scanner, printer, an UPS, and of course all the other elements of my computer (Miditower case, keyboard, mouse, speakers...). I want it to be very big, because I always need a lot of space for notes and some other stuff. Can anyone tell me where to find some pictures of that kind of desk? I just need an idea, so I can start making it.

I recently stained a concrete floor for the first time with a friend. However, I didn't use any gloves during the process. At any rate, I have a little bit of stain on my hands, and feet. How do I get this off? Soap just aint cutting it.

Found a very nice blond hardwood floor under my nasty carpet. Almost perfect condition except for 2 areas. One looks to be a pretty bad water stain the other a pet stain. I'm already planning on sanding the whole floor but the wood in those two ares feels really dry. I've her from a few people to just mop the floor with mineral spirits and put extra on the damaged ares. Will that be enough to "re-hydrate" the damaged areas? I probably won't be sanding the floor for another month.

I was going to finish the basement and noticed the floor is really uneven. The house was built in the 40's and it has two drains in the floor at opposite corners with the floor sloped towards them, highest spot is the center of the basement. One isn't used the other is used for the washing machine drain.

Should I try and level the floor and plug the drain(s). I can add a new one. I want to put down carpet but want it to look nice. Will the uneven floor make it look bad to someone who didn't know it was uneven? Assuming they never saw it before it was finished. Also should I paint the existing concrete walls and floor with water sealer like KILZ?

Thanks

I just moved to a new place and the screens on the windows in my room have some holes in them. Rather than buy new ones, what can I use to patch them up? I tried packaging tape and duct tape, neither of those work.

I have 3 unfinished pine pieces I'll use as a spice rack (they're like open-top boxes to be mounted on the wall). I'd like to paint them but i wasn't looking for a huge, costly project. I thought I could just spray-paint them. Is primer absolutely necessary? Would it be just as easy to use brush-on paint and primer? I'm not looking for perfect results and I don't want to buy lots of tools & such.

I recently painted several pine shleves. I placed items such as toys, books, and other crap. When I went pick them up they stuck to the painted shelf an left behind marks, scrapes and even pieces of fabric and paper. Is ther a way to prevent this from happening? a sealer? polyurathane? I don't want to use ugly plexi glass. Also, It dried for over a week before i put anything on it so save the "wait for it to dry" responses please. thanks again.
