I take it with me everywhere. Hot guys walk by, and the damn thing doesn't do ANYTHING. I got a beep and a flashing light once when this total nerd came over to me. I think it's malfunctional. What's the best one to buy?

Any carpenter will tell you that a stud finder is best used as a backup. The most reliable approach is to bang on the wall and listen closely to see if there is anything behind it.

So perhaps you should go bang around a little and see if that turns up anything.

On the other hand, you don't need a stud finder to tell you what's on the outside of the wall; that much you can see. The beauty of the stud finder is that it can, on occasion, tell you what's inside. If you are merely looking to locate a "hot guy," I suggest a level-transit. This will allow you to spy on them from afar and determine your best method of ingress. However, when you decide that you would prefer a man of substance, haul out the old stud-finder. It may help you to realize that ultimately, it's the things on the inside that are important.

Sweetie....you have got to be "BLOND"!!! The little mechanical device you refer to only works on sheet-rock ("drywall"), and not too well as far as I'm concerned. I am a carpenter and have used this device several times with varying results, (better to just beat on the wall and listen for a change in tone to find a stud, ie: 2x4. To find the kind of "STUD" you're looking for just turn on the charm and "be yourself" and sooner or later one will find you.

Maybe the thing works its just that it picks up signals for straight dudes. Because if u used it in a mall guys dont hang around malls by themselves (if they are straight) and that the nerd was the only true dude who does dig a girl and tried to play reverse phycology but if u want somthing that works just get a nice golf club and smack the guy u think is a stud on the head and make him pass out and when he wakes up tell him u saved him from a nerd stalker guy and give him the golf club as a present to gain his approval.

Well may be you have it set on too high standards or it was okay they real wasn't studs just because that was hot don't mean they was studs. The real way to find one is in the right place and studfinder will beep like crazy. (LOL) just because look hot doesn't mean it hot.

Maybe what you considered a stud really was not and that is why your device did not indicate a stud was nearby.

I'll be though, that Nerd was happy when his " woman of my dreams" finder led him to you.....do you really think it was a coincidence that he showed up??

Pehaps you fell victim to the " Jonny Come Lately" syndrome - by the time you arrived all the studs had been found - leaving none left to find.... ... ..

that nerd might have owned a million dollar corporation so maybe it didn't malfunction.

you may have your 'security' setting on high and if you lower them and your standards, it might give you more options but you would not have the protection a higher setting gives you.

It seems like you're attracted to nerdy guys instead of the guys you refer to as studs. It seems you are equipped with a 'nerd finder' instead of a 'stud finder'.
