I just finished spackling some peeled spots on a wall in my apartment and now I am prepping to paint it. I am going to paint it the exact same color as it was before, it just new coat. It is also a matte finish, the paint is not glossy or anything. Do I need to use a primer on it?

Yes you do need to use a primer coat. You could put a thousand coats of paint on the patched area and it would still show through.

Yes. Make sure the spackling is completely dry. Then one
coat of drywall primer. Paint will stick better and less likely to need multiple coats of paint = saving time & money.
R, you've done it. Hope I helped some.

Use the regular paint, but paint the patch area with a couple of coats before you paint the whole wall.

depends on the color - if it's a shade of white, it's not necessary, but if it's a color, then you'll want to prime everything, otherwise that spot will absorb the paint differently and it will bleed through. BTW, that means primer on everything, not just the spot.

I would say yes, you would want to use primer so there isn't any discoloration.

no you don't need to prime, priming or not takes the same amount of liquid to do the job, by just painting, you don't have to clean up twice.
