I tried rock salt, it was okay. Is there something that is better? Non-toxic is the important part.

So I have a tree out back and because of it half of my yard is dirt. Laid the appropriate seed, fertilizer, and watered it every day. The grass just isn't going to happen. The problem is this patch of dirt and yellow grass is just off the patio and stretches in all the way across (small yard). you have to walk through it to get to the rest of the yard. No going around. So i need some ideas to make it look nice but still be okay for me and the dogs and the baby to walk through. Any idea would be appreciated.

I've traced a problem on one circuit to a neutral wire coming from my breaker box, that is grounding. All neutrals on that circuit shows ground, this much I understand. What I don't understand is that other circuits neutral wires are connected to the SAME bus bar and do Not show a ground...how can this be???
My next problem...I'm going to have to replace that wire..right?
So I'm going to have to pull the bad one from the upstairs far room all the way to the garage- should I use fish tape connected to the end of the old wire or just connect the new wire to the end of the old one?? I'm afraid what ever I connect to the old wire will break free 1/2 way thru the pull- then I'm screwed! cause it's got to be imposable to push 2 floors worth of wire thru 1/2inch conduit & J-boxes.
Any ideas?....Someone please help. :-(

My son thought it would be fun to hang on the towel bar. He broke the bar and pulled it out of the wall. I will need to buy another one,but I don't know how to put it up with the wall damage. It sort of looks like this

My A/C runs non-stop all day & I don't know why. When I took the cover to the thermostat off, there's some kind of dial underneath the says "longer cycles" and has numbers like .3, .25, .2, .15, 1., .5, ... etc.... there is an arrow resembling a clock hand on the dial that can be moved around as well... any idea as to what this all means, and whether it has anything to do with the A/C running non-stop.

I recently bought a new shower and i fitted it to the existing plumbing where the previous shower was, however when i went to test it for the first time it ran for a few minutes then started to leak from the pressure release valve at the back of the unit, the instructions say it does this if theres too much pressure. Anyone know what i can i do to fix it without paying for a plumber unless its my only option. thanks for any advice.

I recently bought a Juicy Couture (velour) Binder, and I want to keep it from being stolen. I've thought about getting a permanent marker and writting my name, but it would bleed through on the other side. Is their some type of sticker that can't be removed that I could put on the inside of it? Please no mean answers.

The hole is about half the size of a dime (Canadian) and sits nearly at the top of the pipe. The pipe is between the toilet flange and the cast iron T in the wall. The lead pipe is approx. 6" long and 4" in diameter. I would love to be able to replace it but finances say "Not Likely". Anyone have any suggestions?

Does anyone know if it's possible or have ever tried to paint brushed nickel to say a bronzed/aged iron like texture? I'm looking to save money so instead of buying all new light fixtures was hoping that it'd be possible to paint them.
Thanks for any advise. Can't seem to find anything w/an online search.

I'm making a stool and, for reasons I can't be bothered to go into, lightness is quite high up on my list of priorities.

Strength is not essential, but I don't want anything too flimsy as I wish to upholster it and it will need to grip upholstery tacks.

What sort of wood should I use?
