I am assuming that you're wanting to make a bed frame from trees. Really its what ever your imagination lets you. The best to use is birch b/c the younger trees are tall and skinny and look beautiful as a headboard. I suggest that if you are wanting to "line them up" to create a head/foot board is to use dowels to connect them and wood glue. You could also use four larger trunks as posts and use two by fours to make your railings and then stain them to match your trees. You can use hardware to attach the board to the trunks such as used for decking. You'll want to see about treating the wood to help preserve it. Something like this would be really neat...just use artificial leaves:

If you have a chain saw and a saw mill you can make planks and the rest is all standard.

If you want minimum effort hang a hammock between them.

If you like a firm mattress you can tie logs together and make a flat surface to put a sleeping bag on.
