white wall without ruining the wall? And is there somewhere I can get a reasonably priced sheet of clear perspex to screw on over the top of them?

What you use depends on how heavy your vinyl is, if it is only lightweight you could use double sided tape on each corner and the clear perspex is available at most diy stores.

Vynil can be applied to almost any surface with the proper adhesive. Plastic fabricators can supply sheets of plastic in the thickness and sizes you desire.

Try hot glue it sticks pretty much to anything and with car can be peeled off later.
