When I was digging the holes with the post hole digger, everything was dry. I even stuck my arm way down in the holes to check them out. I left to return the post hole digger to the rent a store and when I came back, water was in the hole.
I asked my boyfriend to come look and he said I must have hit an underground spring or something. There is a well about 20 feet from the holes I dug today. Ok so now what, do I go ahead and put the concrete in tommorrow or dig new holes in a dry spot. I am sure there are no water lines under the holes because the city man said I am about 30 yards away from the water lines. Everyone thinks this is amusing and I am just pissed. I have put a lot of work into the clothes line.
Should I just go ahead and put the concrete in or start all over? The post hole digger was a monster for me to handle. It was heavy and almost threw me over. Plus I paid $30 to rent it for 2 hours.

My husband and I are trying to find a porch idea for our brick ranch home. We don't want a deck and would like something different than the traditional concrete. We have looked at do-it-yourself books, but none of them talk about building a porch with stones. We don't know if it is possible or if it is something that will be outrageously expensive. Anyone have any ideas??

We have a 10' by 10' area on the side of our house and are considering putting a deck there. The area is surrounded on 2 sides by walls. The other 2 sides border our screened in concrete patio, and our lawn. The deck area will have a cover on it, and will not be battered by wind (As the 2 walls create a wind block). Winters here are mild, and summer temps are on average 99-100 degrees. Should I use pine or redwood? I looked at Lowes, and found that Pine is 1/2 the price of redwood, and seems to be pretty durable. I am not concerned about the look of the wood, but the durability. Will Pine or Redwood work better?

Hi I am goin to install a new dishwasher in my new kitchen. the dishwasher only has one water feed pipe and in the insstructions it says to connect to the cold water pipe. Now I have central heating and i was thinking if i connect it to the hot water pipe is not going to use electricity to heat the water , but it will use gas which is cheaper. And if the sboiler is already ON for the central heating that makes it even better. Is there anyone Who knows about these things
at a profesional level? Thank you very much. Is all for a good Cause.

Ok, a while ago I had a project involving PVC pipe. Of course, I abandoned it, attached the PVC together so the pieces wouldn't get lost, and threw it in my basement.
Im restarting the project...but the pieces are stuck together like CRAZY. How can I pry them apart without ruining the the pieces. Im hesitant to put a hammer to it or expose it to heat...I'm guessing it'll become brittle...and they can't be brittle for what i am planning to do with them...

and
No, I am not willing to buy the pieces again.

I recently discovered about this chrome finished plastic.. There is this patch/imperfections in silver colour rather than in black mark. Now, I know if the chrome substain black patch/imperfections then most likely is because its being heavy scratched else rust but a silver patch means? Is it the manufacturing fault during the process?

Thanks. Just need some clarifications from ppl who knows abt chrome finish.

I'm installing Laminate onto a very uneven concrete subloor with radiant heating. I'm looking at self levelling compound for some of the larger dips and am also considering putting a 3/8 OSB Subfloor on top of the Concrete and then 6mm Underlay/Moisture barrier. The hope is that the combination of OSB Subloor and Compound will even out the floor. Any issues with this approach? Thanks

Tommorrow morning I plan on getting up and heading to the rental store to get a post hole digger. How hard is it to use this thing and how long should I rent it? Will it take more than 2 hours? Also, once the holes are dug, do I put the poles in then pour the concrete or pour the concrete and put the poles in the concrete within a couple minutes?
Last but not least, how deep should I dig and how hard is it to use this post hole digger? How does it start? Pull cord, turn knob or plug it in? I am new at all this, but eager for my clothes line poles if you cant tell.
