I recently bought a new shower and i fitted it to the existing plumbing where the previous shower was, however when i went to test it for the first time it ran for a few minutes then started to leak from the pressure release valve at the back of the unit, the instructions say it does this if theres too much pressure. Anyone know what i can i do to fix it without paying for a plumber unless its my only option. thanks for any advice.

your pressure in the house should be around 40 to 50 psi,you can buy a water pressure tester at home depot put it on one of your outside faucets and turn the water on the faucet,if your pressure is to high you can buy a pressure reducing valve, they come with compress fittings so that you don't have to solder, turn the valve counterclockwise to reduce your pressure.clockwise to increase pressure.

Call a professional plumber! If you can't afford it. Go to DYI website and see if they have instructions on your project. Maybe you just missed a step. Also you could get a plumbing for dummies book at the library?

you can buy a pressure reducing valve ..sometimes it has a washing machine tap and sometimes it has a screw drive type ..this is called a ballafix valve ..fit it under the shower in the cold feed pipe ..if the pressure valve has gone in the new shower ..then you may have to fit a new one to stop it dripping

If it incredibly is the tank feeding your warm water cylinder it desires a clean washing gadget on the ballcock valve. additionally from what you're saying you haven't any longer any warm water, then the immersion heater needs to get replaced. Assuming it incredibly is how your water is heated. turn the main water off once you bypass out & on once you come back in this might give up the tank overflowing once you're out. whether, it is going to commence back while the water is became on.

you may have blown the safety washer

try turning the water pressure down at the mains stopcock
if this does not work it may be that the washer is sacrificial one in this case contact the manufactures for a new one, should be free, it may mean dismantling the pump but it is nothing too hard if needs be take pictures as you go

or you may have a faulty system either way contact the makers
