Okay, I live in an old bungalow, built 1924--I imagine ALL the paint is lead-based, I've burnt off tons of it with a heat gun and probably lost more than a few brain cells along the way. But seriously, I can't afford the HAZMAT guys in the white suits---I just have some baseboards left. Can I buy a better respirator filter thing and burn, or is liquid the way to go?

Does anyone know that if you mix liquid fabric softner and hot water together, put it in a spray bottle and spray it on wallpaper it comes right off?? Well if you didn't, you do now. Works like a charm and leaves the room smelling great!

Hi All,
I am installing a vanity and tiling as well. The floor is completly tiled.
Is it best to install the vanity before tiling the wall? Does it improve the appearance?
Thanks

I collected over the years a bunch of wine corks (thinking I can do something!) Any suggestions on this front would be appreciated.

we bought a cheap white one, eschewing the $50 one with rainbow-colored blades, and figured we could paint the blades ourselves.

I need to get a piece of sheetmetal to screw up into the frame of a broken damper so I can seal off my chimney for a set of unvented gas logs. Any idea on what thickness or grade of sheetmetal to use for a high heat area such as this? Also, the damper is some pretty hefty steel..any ideas on how to drive a screw through it..a special drill bit maybe?

I was told that when I use a generator, you might as well put on all lights because consumption is the same regardless of number of lights and appliances connected to it. Is that correct? Can I save fuel by lessening use?

Both the dresser and the drawers are oak. There is no "track" per se. The drawer just rubs on the wood dresser. How can I make it slide easier? Thanks!
