that depends on what the seats are like, but i reupholstered my desk chair, here's how i did it. It's a regular padded folding chair you can get at any walmart. I took the padded parts of (in this case it just required some prying) then i picked a cool hawaiian fabric. I decided i wanted more padding so i bought some foam from the craft store, about an inch and a half thick. then i placed it on the padded part, the stretched the fabric over the top of that, i then used a heavy duty stapler to secure it. once i had put enough staples in it, i put it back on the chair. you way need to cut the material at the corners to get it to go underneath properly, just don't cut it too far or it will show.

Basically, you remove the seat bottoms by turning the chairs over and removing the screws. Then remove the old fabric. If the cushion is rotting or worn you may want to replace them with new foam rubber. Then recover with enough fabric to fold each side under the seat, staple with a staple gun, reattach each seat to the chair, turn right side up, and try it out.

1... Flip over chair and take out the screws
2... Remove old fabric and replace padding, if necessary.
3... Cut new fabric to size, place seat on wrong side of fabric.
4... With a staple gun, staple the middle edge of each side first.
5... Pulling tight evenly, until you've worked you way around.
6... Replace by aligning old screw holes in seat, to holes in chair.
7... Replace screw.... whaaaalaaaaa!!!!
