My wall in one bedroom and livingroom is beige pink. my window are large. Also, what color furniture should I buy to offset the brown carpet. Do you have any suggestion what is the best color to paint or remove the door to my kitchen cabinet which happen to be brown to. Oh ya, I live in an apartment. But the landlord say I can do whatever.

I am now a stay at home mom and want to redo my living room, but I'm bad at pulling things together on my own, even though I can look at a catalog and say, I like that room, I don't like that room. I would find it hard to make my room look like those rooms without throwing everything away - I'm sure anyone could do it if they bought every item brand new. However, I'm trying to save money for actually purchasing new pieces and can't really afford to hire a decorator.

I have also seen commercials that certain furniture places like Ethan Allen offer free advice (i'm sure they'd like you to buy from them) - anyone tried this?

My biggest obstacle is that we have sage carpet with taupe colored walls and it's not that old, plus we have a 7 month old, so I really don't want to change it to hardwood for comfort reasons at this time. I'm having trouble picking a sofa fabric and color that will look okay now and be good with baby-related stains, but I'll still like later.

I am turning one of our spare bedrooms into an office. My husband played college football so that is the theme. I painted the walls a very bold copper and gold (team colors). The door and trim are all white as it is throughout our entire house. I have a bunch of great blown up pictures of him playing football that are all in black frames. I'm trying to do this as inexpensive as possible. Will the black frames look tacky with the white trim?

Any ideas on where I might find some high quality draperies for inexpensive price. I hired a decorator in the past that helped me pick fabrics and had the drapes made. I'm on a MUCH stricter budget now. I am open to trying to make my own drapery panels & roman shades. I just need to know where did she find the good fabrics.

Am building a new house and have to decide between putting a 3 car garage on the front of the house (visible from the street) where I will pull directly into the space or on the side of the house (not visible from the street) where I will turn into the space. I have a large lot, so turning radius isn't a problem.

Does garage location affect home resale? I'm looking for quantifiable evidence - i.e. articles, research, etc.

In order to complete my holiday yard decor, I am in need of about 12-20 one (1) gallon milk cartons I plan to make some cut outs on the cartons, fill with a bit of sand and place a tea candle inside to create a holiday lite drive way. A former subdivision of mine did this throughout the subdivison and it was beautiful. Any suggestion as to where I may locate the milk cartons other than the store I would be appreciative. I don't drink milk and would hate to waste 12-20 gallons of milk. Thanks for your reply and Merry CHRISTmas!

I have skimmed walls in my new house and have already painted the kitchen witch Dulux White MATT Emulsion and it came up beautifully. However, I just painted ensuite bathroom and paint is not going on as nicely. Appears 'cracked' and you can see old paint coming through. Useless ex-owner's extractor fan was kaput so wondered weather any moisture on walls perhaps causing this. Wall affected is an interior wall.

I work for a company that does a good majority of Kohler advertising. What do you think of Kohler such as; products and advertising? Have you ever been to Kohler, WI (headquarters)? If you have no idea what Kohler is go into your bathroom and see if you have Kohler products (toilets, sinks, bathtubs, faucets, etc.)

I am currently renting a duplex while in college. We were lucky enough to get a unit with a fireplace. There is one problem, the living room carpeting goes right up to the beginning of the fireplace. I have never seen this before, and don't know what to do about it. I didn't know if there was a rug or something that I could place in front of the fireplace so I don't catch the carpet on fire. Any help would be much appreciated!

I got the tiles in my shower taken out because there was a leak. The shower door had to come off too. The new tiles don't match exactly, but to make it look even worse, the tiler put them up perpendicular to the old ones - the longer sides of the old ones are top and bottom, the new ones have been put up with the longer sides left and right. None of the grouting lines match up. He had to cut the tiles to fit this way. Can anyone explain if this is normal before I go and ask him to take them all down and start again. Very cross and upset.
