How do I decorate the walls of a room for a nursery with ugly wallpaper? We live in an apartment and the walls in our third bedroom have this ugly wallpaper on it, and we cannot change it nor put holes in the walls. I have seen rooms with material hung along the walls, but I'm not sure how to do it. What would I use to hold it up? I can put small holes along the edges where wall meets celing, but nothing too big. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also, any websites I could find enough material to purchase for the project? I'm wanting a gender neutral room. Thanks and God bless!

Bought new home & have to put blinds in. Is there etiquette?

Does the upstairs blinds facing the street "HAVE TO" match blinds down stairs facing the street?

We have one large room, separated by a beam. Front half is the Living Room and has one window facing the street, two small windows facing west. On the other side of the beam is the dining room with only one large winow facing the west.

If the answer to the first question above is "yes", can the living room have two different colors (a solid white to match the upstairs front, and stained wood in the small windows)?

If "yes" to blinds facing street having to match, and "no" to having different colors in the same room (but different walls), can we put complete the Living Room in White, and the Dining Room in stained wood (this equates to different colors on the same wall/ same level, but separate rooms... but only separate by a beam (which will be painted a chocolate brown to set the rooms apart).

Confused? I am

I painted my room lime green with a periwinkle accent on one wall and it looked great, but I am changing rooms and I would like to have something new. The main color is a sort of aquamarine or deep turquoise, but it has a bit more green than blue. The bathroom connected to my room is going to be two shades darker than the color in my room. I want suggestions on an accent color that will make my room have that something extra. Please help!!!

I've looked at so many chandeliers that I'm cross-eyed, lol, and I can't make up my mind. I'm looking for a transitional style to "casual down" the dining room. Thank you for your opinion.

Here's the chandelier (click for larger view or view in room) if you wish.

Just bought a new set from Room and Board (couch and chaise) Couch feels much firmer than when I tried in showroom. Chaise feels just fine. The couch though has a sleeper contrary to the one in the showroom. Should I be calling the store?
Thanks.

My grandmother in central Louisiana has a crawlspace home that needs to be raised occasionally. ($$$$$$$). It is an old brick home and I wonder if her foundation was done correctly.

Some other people in her area have slab homes which don't look as nice to me, but I've never heard of them needing to have their slab raised.

Is it possible to have a crawlspace home that doesn't need to be raised periodically?

I am an interior designer and can't quite understand why the shape of a chair mat still has a "tongue." I have yet to see a desk or configuration of systems furniture that needs this shape.

My living room is a rectangular shape, and I have to fit a sofa, love seat, coffee table and two end tables, tv stand, and desk into it. After putting the sofa and love seat and tv stand in the best positions, it seems that the only place left for the desk is in front of my big window at the right side of the "rectangle". Would it be okay to put a desk in front of the window?? I'm on the 3rd floor, so I don't think I have to worry about it looking tacky from the outside. What should I do? Would it look okay like that? My new furniture hasn't arrived yet, so I'm just playing with some ideas.

We recently installed a recessed can light in the shower. Now it goes off after being on for about 20 minutes. I have a 60 watt bulb in there. Is that too high of watt? Sorry, but I can't find any documentation on what bulb to put in.

The walls are mid grey with white baseboards and molding. Cabinets and shelves are white. I would like to add some bold colors into the mix by painting the cabinet doors a different color. They are white now. What are a few ways to bring the colors into other parts of the space.

I am fixing up an old house and have a few questions about the ceilings. May main concern is for the open livingroom /kitchen area. 1. What size molding is appropriate in rooms with low ceilings. I like the big stuff but I only see it in higher rooms. I want the room to appear larger.
2. Will recessed lighting highlight flaws in the ceiling? The ceilings are smooth but uneven in places. Any help would be appreciated.
