Decorating & Remodeling - May 2007

Looked at replacing cabinets but the time, cost and frustrationg of a couple of months seems too negative and having to find a way to prepare meals, etc. Have to find someone to remove old cabinets since the place I like for new cabinets does not do anything put install new cabinets. Then replacing the counter. And finally having a plumber come to hook up gas stove, garbage disposal, and faucet.

Wonder about resurfacing or just replacing the cabinet fronts and staining, etc., the prime base of the cabinet.

Iv always been into the cosy feel of home but my home lost somthing when i opted for no carpets which im glad of cause its more hygenic and is better for my asthma,and is always fresh and fragrant now.Even with my little dog and my cockatiels.Iv scattered cushions and got fur (faux)rugs around.But the minimilistic look means i have to compensate the cosiness.Plain walls and fabrics just dont have the same appeal,and i dont have the funds to start over,and i know i can put up flowery prints,cushions,candles,vases of flowers/grasses,but its still not giving me that cosy feel i used to know.Can anyone come up with something to recosy my home please,cause i miss it.

Or distortion or for a total silencing.And if using the "egg boxing effect" which way would you face the cones ,open end to wall or closed end to wall.

I am in charge of the breakroom at my job and I thought it would be nice to have a decoration on the table (centerpiece). I think it would brighten up the room. I am looking for something that I can make and be able to change out certain things for the holidays. Any ideas??

This is yet another red couch question!

We have a red leather (dark cranberry red) couch, loveseat, chair and ottomon. We just love them! We have just bought a house and I am trying to decide on a wall color. I have read all the answers to similar questions, but I have a slight twist to mine...

I make quilts and use them as art on the walls. Not old fashioned grandma type quilts, but bright, colorful, more modern quilts. I need to take this into consideration when picking a color. My quilts have pure bright colors such as red, yellow, turquoise, teal, gold, lime green, orange, purple, you get the picture.

I am sick of apartment white walls! And also my hubby hates green, but I love it and I have the final say:)

Right now I am leaning towards perhaps a chocolate brown or tan with an accent wall in red. Or everything in a dark gold. Oh I don't know! Help!

Please, any ideas would be great!

We are starting on the nursery for our little boy and I wanted to have something painted / written around the top of the room like a border. I want it to be a cute little quote or maybe a bible verse or something very sweet / sentimental. It could be several things even, separated by a little stamp in between quotes. Any ideas as far as what we could write? Thanks!!!

The coffee table has a square hunter green base with drawers and the top draw has a glass top so whatever you put in can be seen from the top of the table. I want to find a really craetive idea to decorate this space. it is probably 5'' deep so it cant be anything to tall. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Ok...here's the situation and what we want to do...

The dishwasher was leaking between the linoleum and sub-floors for at least a year and no one knew. So the floor needs to be completely gutted and replaced.

We WANT to flip-flop the kitchen and dining rooms to make the kitchen bigger and the dining room smaller.

I'm guessing we'd need to do new electric, plumbing, floors, walls, and we'd be building the kitchen completely new...new cabinets, counters...the whole nine yards.

Does anyone have a clue how much this could cost us? I'm sure a lot, but we won’t be starting for probably another 6-9 months on the project. Also, we need to have the entire thing done in 1-2 weeks...is that possible?

We have not started looking into this yet, we just discussed it yesterday.

Does anyone have any pictures or websites with pictures to share that has dark wood wall panel? I am in the process of purchasing a home and the wall panel is very dark & in good condition. My wife wants to keep the wall panel because it is beautiful but the room looks very dark. The floors are beautiful hardwood about the same color as the panel. I know we can paint the panel but we are looking at other options to brighten up the room. If you know of any websites that has pictures that shows ways to dress up a dark wood panel room please let me know. It will be greatly appreciated.

My friends and i for some reason just want to build a tree house. lol We dont got much money and we dont have much wood.
