with beige and wood. you could do any color you wanted. it depends on what you're going for. If you're going for bright, I like green/maroon together. If you want to lighten the room -- if isn't much natural light you may want to go with pastels. It's all what you like, because any colors would go.

various natural shades of green are good for an earthy look, with some punches of red (cranberry) for interest.

or how about the more contemporary classic of blues and/or teal? Seems like every design show I watch does something with beige and light blue with dark wood as an accent. You could play with the 60-30-10 balance a bit there.

I would use a soft Robin's Egg Blue on the walls with an almost white trim. The wood floor would be beautiful against that as a back drop. Accent with softer hues of greens and yellows...and mix in natural woods.

So far, sounds pretty dull. Add a bright or intense color!
What's your favorite color? Paint it a shade of that [ if favorite is red, go for tomato! if green, go with parsley! if blue, try royal or teal ].
Get some drapes or pillows or rugs with some beige, and your chosen color to help 'tie' the room together.
Add picture/poster frames all in similar finishes [ oak or walnut, brass or pewter, or same color enamels ], candles, at least one plant [ can be fake if you have a 'black' thumb ].
Keep colors in mind when you buy all your furnishings in your home, so you can re- organize, or re-arrange when you move.

I would use a bold, demanding color like a burgandy or deep red, if you want something more spa like go with a sage green, you could even mix it all up with black as an accent color, beige is a fun color to play with.

What a coincidence, we have a beige couch and wood floors:) We just painted our living room and we painted it a sage green and it looks great! Our curtains are dark red, yellow, and light green, so its very warm and inviting!
