I am in the same predicament as you and I hated to put all my pics in albums. So I painted ~make believe~ funky frames directly on my walls and used double-sided tape to stick the pictures on the walls. I did this in the hall and it turned out very cool, it ended up looking like a multi-media art project. I didn't just hang up pics, I hung up tickets, travel brochures, bit of map that were appropriate for the pics and other three dimensional pieces, funky mirrors etc. Good luck!

you can sanwich pictures behind two sheets of glass or plexy, you can go to Kinko's and get them laminated, or go to the dollar store and buy new frames. The glass, plexy and laminated versions will look cool but probably cost more than getting frames from the dollar store. You can spruce up the dollar store frames by decorating them, painting them or applying things like shells or beads to the frames.

Depending on the size of your pictures, try a large bulletin board with tons of creative tacks and pins.

Spray paint is my favorite thing for picture frames, baskets, trash cans, flower pots, you name it. after they are painted you can glitter them while they are wet.

There are so many colors and so many types of paint. They do wonders to old things.

I recently spray painted these chrome sling back easy chairs I had for over 30 years. I recovered them and sprayed the chrome with hammered bronze and they looked amazing (considering their age) My daughter needed a couple of chairs in her new place.

Be adventurous.

go to the DIY store and look for 8 x 4 sheets of MDF - these can be painted whatever colour you wish, then held to the wall with just 6 screws each - then you can use either spray-on "photo mount" adhesive, or double-sided adhesive tape (or even folded over sellotape) to mount your photos & drawings. I tape my pics on the walls, or just hang them with a thumb tack and a string.
