The kitchen and bathroom are most important. Eating and hygeine are most important; the rest can be worked on later.

Bedroom. It reduces your stress level to be able to flop down on the bed and relax, and get a comfortable nights sleep after screwing with the other rooms in the house. Otherwise that room becomes a source of negative energy and you dread going in it.
Rest is most important as you will be knocking yourself out the rest of the time in the other rooms, it only makes sense that your room for rest is as worry free as possible as soon as possible.
Just my two cents.

1] put toilet paper in the bathrooms
2] put lightbulbs in the fixtures
3] set up beds
4] KITCHEN first! You'll save money and time in the long run if you have a place you can get food and cook/bake/microwave it while you are unpacking. [ Plan where everything will go, before you put it away - pots/baking dishes near stove, dishes near sink, etc.]
5] kids room or your bedroom - I assume you still have to go to work, and they will be a lot happier if you show up clean and with clothes on.
THEN - family room, then living and dining rooms, then guest room.

Your bedroom. This is your place of solitude this is the place you wake up to and get the energy you need to organize the other rooms in your house. Check out Flylady.com .

i suggest the one you are in the most or:
bedroom: because it is like a home inside a home
kitchen: so you can prepare meals
dining room: so you can enjoy the meals
living room: to hang out in organized space
those are my choices in order. Good luck organizing!

Make the bedroom nice. When you want to rest, it will be relaxing. Then the entry/ first room, then the kitchen.
Unless you bought a dump, it should have been pretty clean.
Are you painting, doing wallpaper, new rugs, washing walls ?
Anyone who comes over before its ready should be there to help.

Its a toss up between the kitchen and bedroom personally I would do the bedroom because with all the hard work ahead your going to want somewhere to escape it all thats all you... and then the kitchen because its the most work and the hardest to get finished

Kitchen. It will be your base of operations for the rest of your stay in the house. Close second needs to be your bedroom. The rest of it can follow as the needs present themselves; but your first need is to eat; and second to sleep; third is bathing.

bedroom, that's what defines you.
If you wake in the morning and see it clean then when you leave it you will wish the rest was clean and it will encourage you!
